This series started with a simple idea: to create artwork for my own space inspired by objects, interests, and things that felt personal to me. Each piece takes something familiar and reimagines it through bold colour, simplified forms, and hand-drawn details.
You’ll also find “Howie” throughout the work, a nickname I’ve had since high school, derived from my last name, Howlett. Over the years it’s become almost a second name and, naturally, a recurring signature in these pieces.
What began as a few large-scale prints has grown into an ongoing collection exploring the things I’m drawn to, from sneakers and familiar objects to everyday icons and design details.

Howie-Cola. Inspired by one of my favourite logos and a small collection of Coca-Cola memorabilia I’ve gathered over the years. A playful recreation of the iconic can, personalized with a Howie twist.

Howie Dunk. Inspired by my brother’s love of Nike SBs and the collection I’ve built over the years. A familiar Dunk sole reworked with my own colour palette and a custom Howie label.

Howiependent . Inspired by the skateboard trucks I grew up riding. A familiar piece of skateboarding hardware stripped back to its form and reimagined through bold colour and hand-drawn details.

Howie Strauss & Co. Inspired by the iconic Levi’s Two Horse label and my longtime love of the brand, whose jeans, jackets, and t-shirts have been staples in my wardrobe for years.

Howie Supply Co. Inspired by Herschel’s classic woven label and my longtime love of the brand. Its Saskatchewan roots have always made it feel a little closer to home, and designing something for Herschel has long been on my wish list.

Howard’s Dunks. Originally created as a Christmas gift for my brother, inspired by his longtime love of Nike SB Dunks and an unfinished painting he started years ago. The piece brings together 22 iconic pairs and a shared love of sneakers that started when we were growing up.
These pieces started as something personal to me, but the idea was always meant to be shared. Many can be reimagined with someone else’s name, nickname, or favourite colours, turning the same idea into something uniquely theirs.
